Held in a cage of the darkest thoughts, of boredom and despair,
Let down by everyone and those around that really ought to care.
Empty feelings of disarray, there’s nothing left out there,
Joyless clocks and ticking time, I needn’t go out anywhere.
I feel a longing to be gone and many miles away,
The nightmare soon will end, of this, I hope and pray.
No place to meet a brother, no stage to sing a song,
No single friends, nowhere to go, I pray it won’t be long.
Prospective partners flash their smiles on home computer screens,
And the powers promise cohesion, we’ll get it in our dreams.
As I stumble around the block and no one bats an eye,
I look like a statistic, just another isolated, lonely guy.
Without human love, this world’s a curse, the devil’s in my ear,
I put these feelings into verse, I have a need to share.
And no one calls, and no one comes, the world has turned away,
Eating every day alone, Is such a crying shame.
And I survive, albeit just, I wish that you can see,
That loneliness, among a billion souls, is not how we should be.
Build, so we can meet our friends, for an association is a right.
Still, I’m left alone to pick up the pieces of a solitary fight.
